Andrea Lowery is an educator and mom with over twenty years of experience helping children learn to read, including students with dyslexia and other learning challenges. She holds a master’s degree in reading from the University of West Florida and is LETRS-trained, advocating for best practices grounded in the science of reading.

Andrea is certified in elementary education (K–6), special education (K–12), English speakers of other languages (ESOL K–12), and reading (K–12). She has been honored as Teacher of the Year twice and believes strongly in the power of a growth mindset.

Andrea cares deeply about doing what is right for families and children. She believes compassion and kindness are essential to creating safe, joyful learning spaces, and she knows that every child can discover the joy of reading and the confidence to be themselves.

Through her stories, including Little Skunk & Friends: A Story About Belonging, Andrea hopes to remind children that it’s okay to be different, that true friends accept you just as you are, and that trying your best and never giving up can make learning—and life—full of joy.
